Obituary for Wayne Gaskins
Wayne Gaskins, age 68, of Elizabethtown, Illinois passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on October 2, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to Bert and Wilma Webb Gaskins. Wayne was a member of the Harrisburg First United Methodist church, BPOE 1068, Harrisburg Jaycee’s, Illinois Funeral Directors association, National Funeral Directors Association, Quad County Funeral Directors Association and the Egyptian Funeral Directors.
Graduating from Harrisburg Township High School in 1969 he went on to further his education by graduating from the Southern Illinois University Mortuary Department in 1976. Wayne owned the Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, Illinois.
Surviving are his Sons, Nathan Gaskins of Harrisburg, Illinois and Justin Gaskins of Florence Kentucky. Brother, Webb and wife Pam Gaskins of Elizabethtown, Illinois. Sister, Katie Gaskins of Harrisburg, Illinois. Grandchildren, Hayden Gaskins and Lillie Gaskins. Nieces and nephews, Stephanie Deppen, Keely Stephens, Katrinka Rynder and Wesley Adams.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Son, Travis Gaskins in 2011 and sister, Cindy Gaskins in 1969.
Graveside service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois with Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
