History
Mike Weirauch, Funeral Director |
From our family to yours... |
The J. M. WEIRAUCH FUNERAL HOME was founded in 1929 as the GIBBONS FUNERAL HOME by Claud and Jesse Gibbons. In 1979 it became the GIBBONS-WEIRAUCH FUNERAL HOME and in 1990 it became the J. M. WEIRAUCH FUNERAL HOME, owned by Mike and Karen Weirauch.
Since it's beginning, it has been family owned and family operated offering the finest services available in the area. The Victorian home that houses the firm today was originally the home for the President of Ogara Coal Co. It has undergone several remodeling projects to make it comfortable for the public while still retaining it's home like atmosphere and surroundings. Great efforts have been made to keep the J. M. WEIRAUCH FUNERAL HOME a home and not just a funeral chapel.
Owner Mike Weirauch is also a licensed embalmer and funeral director specializing in the field of restorative art and reconstruction. Mike started working for the GIBBONS FUNERAL HOME in 1970. He attended Southeastern Illinois College and graduated from the Kentucky School Of Mortuary Science in 1973.
In 1979 Mike married Karen Cain. They have three children, Jason Matthew, Jessica Marie and John Madison Weirauch. The entire Weirauch family works at the funeral home making it a totally FAMILY OWNED and FAMILY OPERATED funeral home.
