Obituary for Lita Ruth Parkinson
Lita Ruth Parkinson, age 94, of Harrisburg, Illinois passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at her residence. She was born on June 3, 1928 in Harrisburg, Illinois to Bryant and Stella Wilson Parkinson.
Lita was a proud mother of three and a very strong independent red head. She worked as a waitress in the sixties and went on to become a darn good homemaker. Lita truly gave her heart to all those she knew and loved. When she lived in Michigan Lita could be found cleaning and cooking fish for yard parties and picnics so good all the neighbors would join with smiling faces. Lita moved to Pankeyville in 1977 with her son Benny Henderson. Her daughter, Karen and granddaughter Genny soon joined one year later.
Surviving Lita are her sons, Ben Henderson of Harrisburg, Illinois and Jim Henderson of Asheville, North Carolina. Daughter, Karen Pickering of Harrisburg, Illinois. Three grandchildren, Genny Craig, Jimmy Henderson, Curt Henderson and one great grandchild, Daniel Spencer Henderson.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents. Brothers, Harold Parkinson and Don Parkinson. Sisters, Freda Matthews and Helen Crisp.
Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois with Rev. Donny Hughes officiating. All those wishing to attend services should meet out at the cemetery. Arrangements in care of the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg, Illinois.
