Obituary for Joanne Rice
Joanne Rice, age 86, of Harrisburg, Illinois passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 8, 1938 in Harrisburg, Illinois to Bill and Juanita (Parish) Thomason. Joanne attended the Spillertown Baptist Church in Marion, Illinois, served on the Saline County Senior Citizens Committee, was the very first lady to be a member of the Harrisburg Lions Club where she was a proud lifetime member and she was the owner of Juanita’s Cleaners in Harrisburg, Illinois. Joanne married Clarence Rice and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2014.
Surviving are her three sisters, Betty and husband Bill Smith of Eldorado, Illinois, Judy and husband Willie Kohler of Marion, Illinois and Cathy Haney of Harrisburg, Illinois. Three grandchildren, Christan and husband Tony Fry, Corie and husband Evan Denbow and Carter Rice. Three great grandchildren, Sadie Shwartz, Quinten Denbow and Emerson Fry.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Bill and Juanita Thomason. Husband, Clarence Rice. Son, Billy Wayne Rice. Brother-in-laws, Evert Maddux, Bob Haney and Ed Hayes. Nephew, Mike Smith.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, Illinois with Rev. Steve Shea officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Saline County Senior Citizens Committee in Harrisburg, Illinois or Spillertown Baptist Church in Marion, Illinois.
