Obituary for Mark Atkinson
Mark Kent Atkinson, age 63, of Marion, Illinois passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born June 8, 1960 in Paducah, Kentucky to Robert and Helen (Hardin) Atkinson. Mark attended John A. Logan College where he played basketball and tennis. He attended Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Illinois. Mark married Kathy (Schwartz) Atkinson and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2022.
Surviving are his Sons, Ryan Atkinson of Harrisburg, Illinois and Eric Atkinson of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Brothers, Gary Atkinson of Peoria, Illinois, Luckie Atkinson of Metropolis, Illinois, Robby Atkinson of Metropolis, Illinois, Chris Atkinson of Metropolis, Illinois, and Lannie Atkinson of Metropolis, Illinois. Sister, Christina Parmer of Metropolis, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, and wife, Kathy Atkinson.
Funeral services for Mark will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, Illinois with Rev. Mark Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Bankston Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
