William Buren “Bill” Pickering, age 70, of Harrisburg, Illinois passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 in Harrisburg, Illinois. He was born on April 15, 1952 in East Chicago, Indiana to Woodrow and Ludia Finley Pickering. Bill played the lead guitar and was the lead singer for the Whiskey River Band, worked as a former truck driver and was assistant grounds keeper at the Shawnee Hills Country Club. He proudly served in the United States Army. Bill married Patty Neighbors cherishing over 40 years together and she survives.
Surviving are his wife Patty Pickering of Harrisburg, Illinois. Daughters, Reagan and husband Jeff Kerley of Herrin, Illinois and April and husband Craig Brinker of Coumbiana, Ohio. Two grandchildren, Emmalea Bacon and Connor Brinker.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and sister, Kathy Taylor.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
