Obituary for Charlotte M. Taborn
Charlotte Marie Mason (Moore) Taborn, age 72, received her wings on July 24, 2016 at 9:50PM at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg, IL. The world also knew her as “CT”, with her kind and caring spirit. Charlotte was born January 01, 1944, in Harrisburg, IL. to the late Frank Mason Sr. and Henrietta Motley Moss.

She received her education by attending Lincoln School, Logan School, Horace Mann School, Malan Junior High School, and was a 1962 Harrisburg High School graduate and homecoming queen attendant. After High School she continued her education at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, IL.

Charlotte began employment working for Lela McDonald, Robert Whitney, Kathleen and Morris Skaggs, Rays BBQ Restaurant, a supervisor at Harrisburg Cap Factory, and the Illinois Job Service where she worked 23 years for the State of IL. CT was well known and an active citizen throughout the community, always taking the time to help others. She was a member of the Lincoln School Alumni committee, WADI Board Member, President of a Saline County Home Extension Unit, Yearly Lions Club Christmas Parade Judge, Saline County Election Judge, she was instrumental and presided over the annual Harrisburg Martin Luther King Breakfast and she even earned the key to the City of Harrisburg. After retiring from the state, she still felt the need to help others and worked as an office manager for Valle Printing.

Charlotte had many hobbies. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved attending church and singing in the choir, playing bingo and on any given Sunday you could catch her checking out a movie, at the local theater. But one thing is for sure, if you needed AVON, you knew to call CT, which she enjoyed selling to the community for over 40 years.

Charlotte confessed Christ at an early age and was united with the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 331 East Walnut Street, Harrisburg, Il. where she remained a faithful member. Charlotte was faithful in building God’s Kingdom. She was a member and officers of the Usher Board, Women’s Missionary Society, Adult Choir, Sunday school, and The Helping Hand Club and was the Church Clerk for many years. When the building did not meet standards any longer, the doors were closed. Charlotte then attended the Apostolic Church of God and Christ, Harrisburg, IL, where she continued her journey with Christ. Her heart was always at Mt. Pleasant, in which she fought to one day re-open the doors of her childhood church.

In 1964, Charlotte was married to Richard Howard Moore. In this union, they had two children, Richard Anthony “Juice” and Rietta Marie. In 1971, she married Bruce Lorenzo Taborn. In this union, she had one child, Amy Nanette.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are her children; Rietta Marie Miller and Amy (Jim) Jackson of Harrisburg, IL. Her loving grandchildren, who were so dear to her heart; Richard Mason Sloan of St. Louis, MO., Tylar Jarrett of Edwardsville, IL., Roman Moore, Laken Miller, Lotte Miller, Jaylen Jarrett and Victoria Tison, and step-grandson Daniel Jackson all of Harrisburg, IL. She was also expecting the arrival of her great-grand daughter Lynora, due January 2017.

Also to cherish her memories are her siblings; Charles l. Mason (Betty), of Harrisburg, IL., Miriam (Delbert) Clingman, of Harrisburg, IL., Cecil (Doris) Turner of Springfield, IL., Lowell (Laura) Moss of Carrier Mills, IL., Elizabeth Jones of Apple Valley, MN., Nona Rice of Atlanta, GA., Winfred Moss of Hillsboro, IL., Beverly Sanders of Harrisburg, IL., William Moss of Harrisburg, IL., and Raymond Moss of Canton, IL.

She was preceded in death by her son; Richard Anthony Moore, parents Walter & Henrietta Moss Sr. and Frank & Almeda Mason, five brothers; Frank Mason Jr., Winston Mason, Dahl Mason, Walter Moss Jr., Randall Moss and two sisters; Marcia Carter and Debra Wilkins, her Grandmother Stella Motley, her grandfather William Motley and unfortunately too many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to name.

Earlier this year, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Despite her illness, she always remained positive and upbeat.

CT would like to let you know that her work here is done, like in 2 Timothy 4:7, she has fought the good fight, and she has finished her race and has kept the faith. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place, where she is no longer suffering, nor in pain, but now walking the streets made of gold, smiling, singing and rejoicing, with her loved ones.

Visitation will take place 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Dorrisville Baptist Church sanctuary, 1300 South Feazel Street, Harrisburg, Il, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Reverend Ronnie Williams and Bishop Albert Ingram will be officiating. The burial will be at the Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Harrisburg, IL, with J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home officiating arrangements.

Repass will be immediately after burial ceremony at the Harrisburg Lions Club, 1400 South Main Street, Harrisburg, IL.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms.

We were all blessed to have known Charlotte Marie Taborn…until we meet again.

Our Angel that lived, laughed, and loved.
