Obituary for Vera June Vaughn

Vera June (Wright) Vaughn 96 of Harrisburg passed away Saturday December 13, 2025 at Saline Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Harrisburg.

Vera was born on June 26, 1929 in Keego Harbor, Michigan to Elbert Lee and Nellie Stinson Scroggins Wright. She spent her life in Harrisburg and graduated from Harrisburg Township High School.

On June 15, 1952 she married Lowell Edward Vaughn of Harrisburg and to this union one daughter was born, Lisa Jo Vaughn.

Vera spent more than 30 years working for the Shawnee National Forest Supervisors Office in Harrisburg. She held the position of purchasing agent at the time of her retirement. After retirement she made many new friends working at Myrons on the square in Harrisburg.

Vera was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church in Harrisburg and was active there until her health began to deteriorate.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Jo and her sister Betty Lou (Wright) Young, both of Harrisburg.

She also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews, Terri Smith of Peoria, AZ, Ron (Kim) Smith of Peoria AZ, Debbie (Bryce) Gibbs of Chico, CA, Julie Brown of Kansas City KS, Margaret Whitten of Joplin, MO and Don Carer of St. Louis, MO.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lowell and sisters Laura (Wright) James, Margaret (Scroggins) Schuerman, Barbara (Wright) Smith and brothers Benjamin Dallas Wright, Lester Leon Wright, John Harvey Wright and Wilburn E. Wright.

Funeral services and burial will be announced after the holidays. The J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg is handling the arrangements.
