Obituary for Sondra Bishop
Sondra Bishop, aged 85, a longtime resident of Harrisburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, in Carrier Mills Nursing Home, Carrier Mills Illinois. Sondra, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on January 5, 1940, to the late David Duke and Thelma Ward Duke.
Sondra's life was one of service, love, and laughter. In her early years, she found her calling as a beautician assistant where she brought joy and beauty into the lives of her clients. Later in life, she joined her sister-in-law Christie Brown at Memories, an establishment renowned for its heartfelt hospitality and delicious cuisine, serving as an assistant in food preparation. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A cherished matriarch, Sondra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce Bishop, with whom she shared many precious moments and created a legacy of love. She continued this legacy with her two sons, Tod and his wife Julee Bishop, and Perry and his wife Sherry Bishop. Her guiding light will forever shine in the hearts of her grandchildren, Casey Bishop and Derek Martin, Andy and Bailey Bishop, Alexis Bishop and Kory Hise, and Walker Bishop who will miss their grandmother's endless support and enduring wisdom.
Sondra was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bruce, sister Eva Pearl Boatright, brother-in-law Jack Boatright, niece Jodi Fowler, and her sister in law and brother-in-law Christi and John T. Brown
There will be no services. The J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg is in charge of arrangements.
