Patricia Lynn Pickering (Patty), age 69 of Harrisburg, Illinois passed away on Feb. 18, 2026 in Herrin, Illinois, peacefully at home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.
Patty was born Oct. 9, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois to John and Barbara (Poole) Neighbors. Patty had a diverse career path over her lifetime. Patty worked for Shawnee Hills Country Club as a Club House Manager, where she worked with her late husband William Pickering. Patty then opened her own craft store, Our Craft Place, and from there she later became employee/manager for Casey’s General Store in Harrisburg, Illinois. Patty remained with the company for 20 years before retiring. Patty enjoyed antiques, crocheting, making jewelry, crossword puzzles and reading.
Surviving is her daughter Reagan (Jeff) Kerley, granddaughter Emmalea Bacon of Herrin, Illinois, Son Larry Wayne Harris of Harrisburg, Illinois, sisters Sharon Sue Bishop of Stonefort, Illinois, Terri Ditterline of White Ashe, Illinois, and Misty Richey of Carrier Mills, Illinois. Patty is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Buren Pickering, parents John and Barbara Neighbors, and brother Johnny Neighbors.
Graveside services will be at 10;00 a.m. Feb. 23, 2026 at Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois with Rev. Paul Taylor officiating. J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
