Obituary for Oliver James Cook
Oliver James Cook, age 77, of Harrisburg, Illinois passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on January 27, 1945 in Trenton, Tennessee to John Henry Cook and Velma Mae Morris Blakemore. Oliver married Barbara Ann Pankey Cook and cherished over 48 years together before she preceded him in death on November 4, 2021. He enjoyed his job as an over the road truck driver, days full of fishing, gardening, good food but most of all his grandchildren and family.
Surviving are his sons, Derrick and wife Mishell Cook of Harrisburg, Illinois, Clint and wife Shelly Thrasher of Harrisburg, Illinois and Lee Cook of Shawneetown, Illinois. Daughters, Gloria and husband Gerry Darrell Pewitte of Sharon, Tennessee and Rochelle Williams of Southfield, Michigan. Brother, Lawdell and wife Emma Fields of Dyersburg, Tennessee. Twenty-three grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Wife, Barbara Ann Cook. Brothers, Otis Thomas Blakemore and James Akins.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ownly Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg, Illinois.
