Maureen Sutton, a beloved figure who was born on June 17, 1934, in Harrisburg, and who passed away on July 25, 2025, in Illinois, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and enduring strength.
Maureen was the daughter of the late James "Buck" Jones and Evelyn Lucille McClure Jones. She spent her lifetime surrounded by a loving family, predeceased by her husband, Calvin Sutton, her daughter Lorna Sutton, her son Bruce Sutton, her daughter Gina Torcelli, and her sister Colleen Green. Her memory lives on through her son Mike Sutton, her brother Jim Jones, and sisters Janeen Roe and Jill Jones, further cherished by her granddaughters Jessica Sutton and Carly Sutton Fuch.
A devout Christian, Maureen's unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She and her husband Calvin were devoted members of the Harrisburg First Baptist Church. Her participation extended beyond the weekly worship as she immersed herself in Bible studies and Sunday school. Maureen's commitment to the Lord's work was evident as she extended her kindness and teachings not just within the church walls but in every encounter within the community. Her benevolence and gentle guidance touched numerous lives.
Her enthusiastic engagement with the First Baptist Church also provided a platform for Maureen to share her warmth and compassion. Maureen's services were held for the family on Sunday July 27, 2025 at Cottage Grove Cemetery where she was laid to rest next to her beloved Calvin.
