Obituary for Marilouise New
Marilouise (Marilou) McGill New, age 99, passed away peacefully June 17, 2019, in Maitland, Florida She was born May 25, 1920, in Eldorado, Illinois, to James (Jimo) and Blanche McGill.
For many years Marilou worked in the thoroughbred horse racing industry as a bookkeeper, traveling around the country. In 1957 she and her parents and young son, Jim, moved to Clearwater for Jim to attend elementary school. While in Clearwater she worked for the Clearwater Sun as a proofreader.
She and her son, Jim, moved to Chicago, Illinois when he began middle school. In 1966 they moved to Ocala, Florida. While in Ocala she continued to work in the horse industry until 1969 when she began working for the Holiday Inn as a bookkeeper until she retired in 1979 and moved back to Clearwater to live with her mother. She lived in Clearwater until 2014 when she moved to Winter Park, Florida to live with her son and daughter-in-law.
She and her mother, and in later years, Marilou, traveled every summer to visit their many friends and family in their hometown of Eldorado, Illinois. They would plan the trip for weeks and were always excited about visiting.
Marilou is survived by her daughter-in-law, Brenda New, nieces Bonnie Jean Price and her husband Chuck Price, Lisa Cawhorn, great niece Linda Tucker and her husband Murray Tucker III, great-great niece Sydney McWilliams and great-great nephew Murray Tucker IV.
Marilou was preceded in death by her son, James E. New in 2018. Her mother, Blanche, lived in Clearwater, Florida until 1991 and passed away in Eldorado, Illinois in 1991. Her father, Jimo, passed away in 1960 in Clearwater Florida.
