Obituary for Lenora Elmore
LENORA ESTES ELMORE, 87, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg, IL surrounded by her loving family.
Lenora was born on December 1, 1932 in Harrisburg. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Lillie Barnett Estes. She graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1951 and worked at Indiana University in Bloomington Indiana. She married John Manning Elmore in 1953 and together they had four children, Cheryll Lynn, Johnny Ray, Roy Allen and James Lee Elmore. Lenora was a very kind and gentle soul; she had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. After her retirement from Indiana University she returned to Harrisburg and spent time reading, doing crossword puzzles and devoted many years as a docent to the local Genealogical Society. She was an avid cook and spent years compiling and sharing her favorite recipies with family and friends. Those recipies are still used today by her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving daughter Cheryll Lynn, parents Lillie and Roy, brothers Everett, Bob, David and sisters Millie, Emily and Doris. She is survived by her loving and devoted son Johnny Ray Elmore and his siblings Roy Allen Elmore and James Lee Elmore and her older Brother Roy Lee Estes.
She leaves behind wonderful memories to be cherished by her loving 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday, September 28, 2020 at 1:00pm at the JM Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg, IL at 211 North Jackson Street, Harrisburg, IL 62946, then a short graveside service afterwards at Liberty Babtist Church Cemetary at 250 Liberty Road, Harrisburg, IL 62946.
