Obituary for Kenneth Bumpus
Kenneth (Kenny) Bumpus, age 69 of Harrisburg, Illinois passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Mount Vernon, Illinois on November 8, 1954 to Robert Eugene and Thelma Louise (Hayes) Bumpus.
Kenny was a kind and gentle spirited man. He was a happy guy that had the type of smile that could light up a room. If you got him tickled, he would send out a beautiful laughter that had everyone around him laughing right along with him. Kenny enjoyed listening to music of all types, watching movies, and most of all loved his furry stuffed animal collection at his home.
Kenny enjoyed getting out in the community often, with Castle Park being one of his favorite spots. Harrisburg Park was also a favorite of Kenny’s as he enjoyed soaking up the sunshine while feeding the ducks and taking in the beauty around him.
Kenny resided at Turner Manor in Harrisburg, Illinois until moving to his new CILA home in 2014, operated by Coleman Tri-County Services. He also attended Coleman Tri-County’s Community Day Services program throughout the years, making many friends. Kenny’s caregivers adored him and lovingly referred to him as “Bumpy”. Kenny will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his Ogara CILA family of housemates, staff and fur baby, “Biscuits”.
Surviving are his three brothers, Steve and wife Gail Bumpus of Bonnie, Illinois, Stanley Eugene Bumpus of Bonnie, Illinois and Kevin Jay and wife Lisa Bumpus of Vinity, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, Illinois with Rev. Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois. Friends may call from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
