Obituary for John W. Parker
John W. Parker, age 96 of Muddy, Illinois passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the V.A. Medical Center in Marion, Illinois. John was born in Cairo, Illinois on December 5, 1926 to James Forest and Velma Zula Joiner Parker. He was a member of the Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Illinois. He worked as a coal miner at the Sahara Coal Company for many years and enjoyed fishing in his free time. He married Edna E. Parker on November 5, 1954 and she preceded him in death on April 6, 2016.
Surviving are his daughter, Sue Harrod of Buckingham, Illinois. Sons, Frederick and wife Betty Jean Parker of Greenwood, Indiana, Charles Parker of Evansville, Indiana and Michael and wife Jackie Parker of Marion, Illinois. Eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and wife, Edna E. Parker. Brother, Raymond Parker. Sisters, Bonnie Werkmeister, Clara Ferrell and Dorothy Jean Trapp.
Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the Dorrisville Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Illinois. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Dorrisville Baptist Church. Arrangements in care of the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg, Illinois.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harrisburg Golden Circle, Dorrisville Baptist Church Childrens Ministry or the Baptist Childrens Home Services in Carmi, Illinois.
