Obituary for Jerry L. Weiss

Jerry Lee Weiss, 63, of Harrisburg, IL, has been called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jerry passed away peacefully in the early hours of September 18, 2024.

Born on July 16, 1961, in Harrisburg, Jerry lived a life full of love, faith, and service to others. He was the beloved son of Shirley Archer Weiss and Benny Weiss, both of whom preceded him in death, as well as his brother, Randy Weiss. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Rebecca Weiss. Together, they raised two sons: Brian (Sydni) Weiss and Matthew Weiss. Jerry was also the proud PawPaw to Mason Weiss, Quenton Weiss, and Jaden Sigler.

No matter where he went, Jerry always took the time to catch up, ask how you were doing, and share a story or two. His genuine care for the people of Harrisburg made him a familiar face and a true friend to many. As a lifelong member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Jerry served as a deacon, youth leader, and song leader, sharing his unwavering love for the Lord with all who were lucky to meet him.

He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, uncle, PawPaw, and friend. The world was truly brighter with him in it. Jerry’s presence will be missed beyond measure, but his memory will live on in our hearts until we meet again.

A private visitation will be held at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg for family and close friends from 10 - 11 A.M. Saturday September 21, 2024 Graveside service will follow visitation, taking place at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Harrisburg, IL for all friends and family to attend. Brother Mark Smith will officiate the service.
