Obituary for James L. Jones
James L. Jones, age 84, of Golconda, Illinois passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 surrounded by his loved ones at his residence. He was born on March 6, 1937 in Harrisburg, Illinois to Garcia and Stella Mae Smock Jones. James worked for many years as a coal miner and married Irene Street Jones of Golconda and she survives.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Jones. Son, Steve Jones and significant other Karen Oxford of Harrisburg, Illinois. Daughter, Rhonda and husband Dwayne Atkinson of Stonefort, Illinois. Brother, John and wife Kay Jones of Rosiclare, Illinois. Sister, Linda Fitzpatrick of Harrisburg, Illinois. Five grandchildren, Steve Jones, Neal Soloman, Makenna Atkinson, Danan Soloman, Adawnya Soloman and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Sister, Carolyn Sue Martin Jones. Brother, Robert “Bob” Jones. Son, Hallie Dale Soloman Jr. and daughter-in-law, Suzie Jones.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, Illinois with Rev. Jeff Owens officiating. Burial to follow in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
