Obituary for Jack Harper
Jack Harper, age 84, of Harrisburg, Illinois passed away September 20, 2020 at his residence. He was born on May 21, 1936 in Harrisburg, Illinois to William Otto Sr. and Beulah VanBibber Harper. Jack managed Gaskins Lumber Company in Harrisburg, Illinois and went on to manage Sunshine Cleaning in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners for 30 years and the President of Harrisburg Unit 3 Board of Education. Jack married Joan Gaskins Harper of Harrisburg, Illinois and she survives.
Surviving are his wife Joan Harper of Harrisburg, Illinois. Sons, Chuck and wife Valerie Harper of Montrose, Colorado and Robert and wife Mary Harper of St. Louis, Missouri. Daughter, Martha and husband Wayne Halford of Columbus, North Carolina. Six grandchildren, Scott Harper, Kate Harper, Mark Harper, Tommy Harper, Joe Yeahquo, and Cora Butler. One great grandchild, Charlotte Butler.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, brother, Otto Harper and granddaughter, Miranda Harper.
Graveside services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois with Richard Rumsey officiating. All that may wish to attend services should meet at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Arrangement in care of the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg, Illinois.
