Geraldine Ewell 88 of Harrisburg passed away 12:20 AM Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Saline Care Center. She was born March 19, 1929 in Harrisburg to Rev. Asroe and Robbie Shewmake Owen. She was married to Charles Ewell Jr. in 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1991. She retired from the U.S. Forestry Service. Geraldine was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Assoc, Harrisburg Women’s Club, Order of the Eastern Star and Ladies Shriners. She was a member of the Harrisburg First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are 1 sister Wanda Raley of Harrisburg, Nephews John Mike & Robin Raley of Minneapolis, MN, Gary & Darlaine Raley of St. Louis, MO and James & Carolyn Raley of Southfield, MI. 1 cousin, David and Mary Jane McGan of Corydon, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Ewell, Jr., 4 aunts, Ruby & Kenneth Smith, Marie & Charles Bryan, Vera Shewmake and Beulah & Ed McGan. 1 brother James & Ruth Shewmake and a cousin Linda McGan.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, July 10, 2017 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron George officiating and burial in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Monday at the funeral home. The family has asked that flowers be omitted and that memorials be made to the Harrisburg First United Methodist Church.
