Edith Pat Adduci, a beacon of joy and creativity, graced this world with her presence on January 9, 1932, in the historic city of Padua, Italy, and after 92 vibrant years, she departed peacefully on October 23, 2024, in Harrisburg, Illinois. Edith, known affectionately to all who knew her, embodied the spirit of resilience and the joy of living, leaving behind a legacy of love, art, and cherished memories.
Born to Bruno and Emma Favarin Pigato, Edith's early years were steeped in the rich cultural heritage of Italy before she embarked on a life filled with adventure and purpose in America. Her journey through life was one of continuous learning and growth, beginning at the Holy Rosary Irish Catholic School and later at Fenger High School, where she cultivated her intellect and spirit. Edith's education laid the foundation for her to become a woman of remarkable skills and talents.
Edith's professional journey was as diverse and remarkable as she was. At the General Motors Electro Motive Division, she contributed to the fabric of America's progress by crafting locomotive parts with precision and pride. Her creativity and zest for life shone brightly when she donned her baker's hat at Keebler Corp, where she playfully deemed herself one of the original elves. Edith's work was not merely a means to an end but a canvas for her to imprint her warmth and ingenuity.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Edith's passions painted the world with the vibrant colors of her soul. A collector of antiques, she found beauty and stories in the remnants of the past, each piece a whisper of history that she lovingly preserved. Her artistry was not confined to her collections; as an oil painter, she brought to life scenes and emotions that resonated with the depth of her own experiences. Edith's artwork remains a testament to her ability to capture the essence of the world around her and the imagination within.
Edith's family was the masterpiece of her life, a tapestry woven with love and dedication. She was a cherished wife to her late husband, Leonard J. Adduci, and a guiding star to her children, Mark and Audra Adduci and Patricia Esnard. Her grandchildren—Matthew, Emily, Abigail, Erin, and Cooper—were the lights of her life, each a reflection of her spirit and joy. Edith's bond with her family was as enduring as the memories they created together, memories that will continue to inspire and comfort them.
Her brother, Joseph Pigato, along with her parents and husband, predeceased her, and together they paint the heavens with the legacy of the family's warmth and resilience. Edith's life story is a reminder that even in loss, there is a celebration of what has been—a celebration of moments shared, lessons learned, and love that endures beyond the confines of time.
Edith's life was a portrait of passion, painted with the brushes of hard work, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones. She inspired those around her to embrace each day with enthusiasm, to find beauty in the ordinary, and to create a life that resonates with purpose and joy. Her story is not one of finality but of continuity, as her spirit lives on in the hearts she touched and the lives she enriched.
As we honor the remarkable woman that was Edith Pat Adduci, let us carry forward her legacy by living fully, loving deeply, and leaving the world a more beautiful place than we found it. Edith's journey through life was a testament to the power of positivity, the beauty of art, and the strength of family bonds. Her light may have dimmed in the physical world, but it continues to shine brightly through the love and memories she leaves behind.
