Obituary for Dakota Lee Agin

Dakota Lee Agin, 67, of Harrisburg, Illinois passed away peacefully Friday, March 29, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones in Galatia, Illinois. He was born on April 13, 1956 in Harrisburg, Illinois to Charles and Hazel (Feazel) Agin.


Cody was a hard worker and started his working career at Barn Hills Market in Harrisburg, Illinois before moving on to work for the local construction union and a strip mine out of Rosiclare, Illinois. Cody then worked for the Franks at Arclar/Willow Lake Coal Mine for over 20 years before he retired. He had a passion for junking, hauling, trading cows and goats and visiting the sell barn, he truly loved to do some wheeling and dealing. Cody was a happy guy who loved to dance and loved the small things in life, he never met a stranger and those he did meet soon grew to love him. He devoted his life to his family and taking care of his girls who will miss him dearly.


Surviving are his five daughters, Stephanie (Christopher) Elam of Newburgh, Indiana, Nikki (Jeremey) Pankey of Harrisburg, Illinois, Christi (Troy) Sticklin of Galatia, Illinois, Casey (Jacob) DeNeal of McLeansboro, Illinois and Brandi Agin of Harrisburg, Illinois. Six brothers, Buck Agin of Galatia, Illinois, Jess Agin of Alton, Illinois, Denzil Agin of Harrisburg, Illinois, Wade Agin of Harrisburg, Illinois, Clay Agin of Harrisburg, Illinois and Asa Again of Kutawa, Kentucky. Sister, Blanche Riley of Harrisburg, Illinois. Ten grandchildren, Karli (Taylor) Jackson, Taylin Vandyke, Cody (Kelee) Pankey, Allie (Kyle) Hammers, Whitlee Pankey, Blakey Walker, Baylee Walker, Kale Stricklin, Cason DeNeal and Brady DeNeal. Three great grandchildren, Parker Jackson, Streeli Jackson and Camden Vandyke. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cherished friends.


He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Brother, Billy Joe Agin. Three sisters, Loretta Nalley, Mary DeVore and Jenny Ramsey.


Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Blockhouse Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
