Obituary for Beverly June Smith
Beverly June Smith, age 86, of Eldorado, Illinois passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on July 13, 1936 in Harrisburg, Illinois to James Calvin and Jewell Oneida MacPhearson Blackman.
Beverly was a lifelong member of the McKinley Avenue Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Illinois where she worked as a secretary, clerk, taught nursery and was part of the WMU. She was a clerk for the Saline Baptist Association and very active in the Golden Circle and the Rebecca Lodge. Beverly loved to knit and socialize, it could be said that she never met a stranger. She cherished her family and had a deep love for children, especially her great nieces and nephews, which held a special place in her heart. Beverly married Bill Smith of Harrisburg on September 12, 1964 and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1978.
Surviving are her nephew, Gregory (Josette) Blackman of Loudon, Tennessee. Nieces, Tamara (Larry) Melvin of Marion, Illinois and Jennifer (Donald) Zerrusen of Teutopolis, Illinois. Several great nieces and nephews and countless cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents and husband Bill Smith. Brother, Charles Lee Blackman. Sister, Rita Gene Williams. Nephew, Mickey Williams.
Services for Beverly will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, Illinois with Rev. Trent Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the McKinley Avenue Baptist Church or the Golden Circle.
