Lavada June Pickering 78 of Harrisburg passed away 4:55 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at St. Marys Hospital in Evansville, IN. She was born March 3, 1938 in East St. Louis, the daughter of Aaron and Leveda Smith Woodiel. She was married to Joe Pickering who survives. She was a member of Union Chapel Church.
Survivors include her husband Joe, 1 son Jon & Christy Shackleford of Marion, KY, a stepson Ronald & Juli Pickering of New Iberia, LA and a Stepdaughter Melinda Pickering of Harrisburg. 1 sister Brenda & Ferrell Davis of Galatia, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons Curtis Shackleford and Jeffry Shackleford, 1 brother Lyndell Woodiel and 1 granddaughter Jonna Shackleford.
Graveside services will precede burial 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 5, 2016 at Tate’s Chapel Cemetery north of Galatia. Those wishing to attend should go directly to the cemetery. The J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
